Highlights and notes

Highlighting

Text in the Content Panel can be highlighted in all Readers, except Maths. You can view highlights on a tablet, but currently they cannot be added using these devices.

To highlight text:

  1. Select the text that you wish to highlight.
  2. In the highlight pop-up box, select a colour.
  3. In the highlight pop-up box, select the Highlight icon.

To change the highlight colour:

  1. Select the highlighted text.
  2. Select one of the other colours from the highlight pop-up box.

To delete a highlight:

  1. Select the highlighted text.
  2. Select the Delete button from the highlight pop-up box.

Add a note to a page

Select the + New Note button.

A white note will appear in the Notes Panel.

  1. Enter text into the note. To save the note, click/tap anywhere outside of the note. To modify the text, select the text in the note and type.
  2. To delete a note, select the Delete button.
  3. Your teacher may enter notes for you and your class. The author of the note is stated at the top.
  4. To minimise and maximise the note, select the Arrow Head.

Sharing notes

Teachers can share a note with their class. It will appear with the teacher's name in the student's Notes Panel and in their Notes Centre.

To share a note:

  1. Select + New Note.
  2. Enter text into the note.
  3. Use she Shared drop-down menu to select the class with which you would like to share the note. At any time you can change who you share the note with by choosing another class. To stop sharing the note, choose Only Me from the drop-down menu or delete the note.

Notes associated with a highlight

Instead of just highlighting, you can associate a note with a highlighted section of text.

To create a highlight and add a note:

  1. Select the text you would like to highlight.
  2. Select the highlight colour in the highlight pop-up box.
  3. Select the Note icon in the highlight pop-up box.

The text will be highlighted and a note of the same colour will appear in the Notes Panel.

To add a note to an existing highlight:

  1. Select the highlighted text.
  2. Select the Note icon from the highlight pop-up box.

The note will appear in the Notes Panel.

  • To find the highlighted text associated with a note, select the note in the Notes Panel. The Content Panel will scroll to the highlighted text.
  • To find the note associated with a highlight, select the highlight and the note will blink in the Notes Panel.
  • If you delete a note associated with a highlight, the highlight will also be deleted.
  • If you delete a highlight associated with a note, the note will also be deleted.

Notes centre

You can access the Notes Centre from the Notes Panel. The Notes Centre compiles all the notes you have added to a chapter in one place.

  1. When you open the Notes Centre, the notes for the current unit will be visible.
  2. Select Go to Unit to go to the unit that contains the note.
  3. Other units that contain notes will be hidden. To view the notes for another unit, select the unit header.
  4. The number of notes that has been added to a unit is shown here.

Select Close in the upper right corner or select Close Notes Centre in the Notes Panel to return to the unit.
