Teachers: allocating eBooks and games

Create a class

When all your students have an account set up, the first step is to organise your students into classes. You can have multiple classes, however the classes you create will only be visible to your login. All of the classes created here will be available in Pearson English 3-6.

To create a class, login at www.pearsonplaces.com.au

  1. Select the blue My Place icon in the top menu bar
  2. Select Class Admin.
  1. Select Create New Class. In the popup, enter the name of your new class and select Create.
  2. All of the students in your school will appear in the Students not in class list. Select the column headers to order the list by First Name, Last Name or Year. Choose a year from the drop-down list to only see students from that year level. To add students to your class, select the tick box next to their name.
  3. Once you've selected the students for your class, select the right arrow to move them into the Students in Class list.
  4. Select Save to save your class.

You can change the students in a class at anytime by selecting the class on the left, ticking the boxes next to the students you want to move, then the arrow that points to the list you want to move the students into and then Save to save the changes you've made.

Allocate eBooks and games to students

Once you have created your class, you can allocate eBooks and games to students. Your students will not see any ebooks or games unless you allocate them

Go to the Pearson English 3-6 platform by selecting either the large icon in your passport or the small Pe icon in the top navigation bar in Pearson Places.

  1. Select the year of the topic.
  2. Select the name of the topic.
  3. Select Allocate Students.
  4. Select the class from the drop-down list.
  5. For each student in the list, select either the Below, On or Above levelled eMagazine. You can change their eMagazine later. Students will only see one version of the eMagazine in their online platform. eMagazines are distinguished by the number of stars next to their title.
  6. You can allocate a resource to all students in the class by ticking the first box in the column.
  7. Once you have changed the table, the Save button will appear.

If students are only using the online platform, they will only see the eBooks they have been assigned. If students have their own iPad, the ebooks that are available in the download list of the Pearson Primary eBook iPad app will reflect what you have assigned to them. Please note: if a student downloads an eBook it remain in their iPad app bookshelf, even if you allocate a different eMagazine or deallocate a topic eBook at a later date. See the Pearson Primary eBook app article for more information.
