How to allow Flash in your browser

To access the eBooks online you need to allow Flash on your browser. Please select your browser below for instructions on how to allow Flash Player

Chrome

  • Type the following in the address bar: chrome://settings/content
  • Scroll down to ‘Flash’.
  • Select ‘Allow sites to run Flash’.
  • Select ‘Done’ at the bottom left of the window.
  • Visit pearsonplaces.com.au, login with your existing username and password, and select the icon for the eBook you would like to access. The eBooks should launch correctly now.
  • If the eBooks are not launching correctly, please try clearing the browser cache and try again - find instructions here.

Mozilla FireFox

  • Choose Firefox > Tools > Add-ons.
  • Open the Add-ons dialog box. Select ‘Plugins’.
  • In the list of Add-ons, look for ‘Shockwave Flash’ and check the status that appears to the right of the plug-in name ‘Shockwave Flash is disabled’.
  • Select ‘Always Activate’.
  • Close the dialog box.
  • Visit pearsonplaces.com.au, login with your existing username and password, and select the icon for the eBook you would like to access. The eBooks should launch correctly now.

Safari

  • Open Safari, and choose Safari > Preferences. (Note: If you are viewing Safari in full-screen mode, mouse over the top of the browser screen to see the menu.)
  • Click the ‘Security’ tab. Ensure that ‘Enable JavaScript’ and ‘Allow Plug-ins’ are selected. For Mac OS X 10.6 and 10.7 specifically, just make sure that ‘Allow Java’ and ‘Allow All Other Plug-ins’ are enabled.
  • Click ‘Plug-in Settings’ (For Mac OS X 10.0 and above) OR Click ‘Manage Website Settings’ (For Mac OS X 10.8 and above).
  • Select ‘Adobe Flash Player’.
  • From the When visiting other websites menu, choose On or Allow in the menu on the right.
  • Close the dialog box.
  • Visit pearsonplaces.com.au, login with your existing username and password, and select the icon for the eBook you would like to access. The eBooks should launch correctly now.
