These activities aim to develop students’ fine motor skills and reinforce key handwriting skills that students are learning in class. When used on an interactive whiteboard (IWB), these activities will also introduce new skills as students will need to work on a vertical surface and use their fingertip or an IWB pen. Most of the activities are designed to be used as part of whole class instruction on an IWB; many, however, can also be completed on computers in small groups, in pairs or individually.
There are activities for lower, middle and upper primary students that focus on correct pencil grip and comfortable posture, pattern work and writing legibly and fluently. There are also warm-up activities, games and assessments. Where students are copying, tracing or writing letters, prompt them to work carefully to achieve good results on the IWB.
Have fun with handwriting!
Remember to calibrate your interactive whiteboard.
